TRANSALPINE-RUN 2011 Report #1

Report by Marcel Zwiers - From Bunnik With Love -

Chantal and Jacomina are two days in the race. Their Transalpine-Run (TAR) started of yesterday morning at 07:00.

Day minus-1 - September 2nd 20:40
Team From Utrecht With Love arrived in Oberstdorf. Mobile Home is parked on the camping-site and all race documents are picked up. The race director explained that this year's TAR is the most challeging to date. It's a sunny 23 degrees.

Day #1 - September 3rd
Oberstdorf (GER) – Hirschegg (AUT)
27,20 KM 1806 M altitude

The race starts op the local marketplace smelling of local cheese and specialties. After about 20k the participants had to climb up a strap hill of about 300 M. No shadow. Last 5K where very tough due to the heat. Still Team From Utrecht With Love enjoyed the day all the way. Loads of fun!

Finished in 4:54:50

Day #2 - September 4th
Hirschegg (AUT) – Schruns (AUT)
53,20 KM 2481 M altitude.

This second day's trail is the longest in the history of the TAR. 'Highway to hell' ;) A lot of climbing to do providing amazing views. Team From Utrecht With Love is very content with their result of the day. The too focused [read: crumpy] fellow participants however…..

By the way; Even Chantal started Yodeling.

Finished in 8:46:53
