Countdown - 8 days till the start

Countdown has begun - only 8 days left till the start of our dream: Transalpine Run 2011. Not much training these last weeks but a lot of things that have to be organised.
Tuesday we found our driver for the camper - almost the perfect driver, he still has to learn to do massages.. But hey, he knows the people behind Plan B (the organisation behind the TAR), knows a lot of participants and last but certainly not least: he ran the TAR himself! So tho be honest, we think he is the perfect driver..
Thursday we had a look at our potential camper that we want to rent. If we have to describe it in one word - HUGE! It is just the perfect camper; a big one, nice beds, garage for the bikes, shower cabin and all in perfect condition. And moreover, it turns out to be the camper from an acquaintance.
This week we also ordered our last materials (Skins compression tights, tubes) from GlobalSports. Next week we'll pick up some more sports food from PowerBar. Right at this moment our shirts are printed with our logo. Furthermore, we started our mailinglists, selling our stones and signed DVD's etc. Yes, we can still use some extra money for Pink Ribbon!

8 days to go - lot's to do but soooo looking forward to the start!! In Dutch we would say #ZININ!

Always further

Today we received a very nice present from one of our admirers - a book from the famous Dutch runner and comic: Dolf Jansen, with the nice title: Always further. I doubt whether we have enough energy to read the book - but our driver can read it aloud for us.. sweet dreams with these running-stories.

Last week on Sunday it was party time - we finished our "bikkelweek", an extreme heavy week with a lot of running KMs. In 8 days we covered the distance that we will cover in the Alps. Combining the runs of 35KMs with our daily routine let to some creative combinations. Running to and from work, running early in the morning and late at night. Chantal had the pleasure to run out of the big city, ending up running along the highway (hmm). Jacomina saw Bambi on her way to work. We were racing trains, accompanied by friends (bike or running), running into friends/animals along our routes, eating just enough that we didn't have to throw up, using head lights, got blisters from new shoes, managed to run a hole in a CamelBak, running the asphalt, through mud, sand, searching for shelter together with cows; we had good weather, we had rain, we were cold, we were hot; we enjoyed our trips and we hated it. But in the end, we made it. And we noticed that despite all the small injuries and being tired; the thoughest part was the mental part. Now it is recovery time, short runs, some biking, good eating and prepair for our dream: the Transalpine Run 2011!
